Heather is a sports & orthopedic physiotherapist with 8 years of clinical practice experience managing simple to complex musculoskeletal injuries for patients of all levels and abilities ranging from weekend warriors to olympic athletes.

Heather completed her undergraduate degree at Western in Kinesiology in 2006 where in her fourth year she worked as an athletic trainer for the men's varsity rugby team. This experience was pivotal in influencing Heather’s decision to pursue a career in Physiotherapy (PT). Following a year of travel abroad in Europe, she returned home to complete her Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto in 2009. In the years since, she has worked in several multidisciplinary, sports medicine environments which included a brief stint in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre's well established orthopedic & concussion management programs. Heather’s passion for sports & orthopedic rehabilitation prompted her to pursue a second Masters in 2016 to further her knowledge and expertise in the area of manual & manipulative therapy, qualifying her as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists (FCAMPT).

Heather’s work as a PT is varied and includes both clinical & sporting experiences, including a full season with Toronto FC’s Academy Team in 2010 which ultimately motivated her to complete her Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy in 2014. This title has since enabled her to work as part of Canada’s Core Medical Team and as a Lead Medical Practitioner at several international multisport games, including the World University Games in Taipei in 2017 as well as the Pan American Games in Toronto in 2015, respectively. This has also provided Heather with opportunities to work with several National Sport Organizations and she now acts as part of Canoe Kayak Canada’s integrated support team (IST), traveling internationally to provide care for Canadian athletes at training camps, World Cups & World Championships alike. Most recently, Heather had the incredible opportunity to travel to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as Physiotherapist with Canada’s Canoe & Kayak team.

Her love for sports medicine is further demonstrated as she continues to teach within the MScPT program at the University of Toronto as part of the advanced musculoskeletal unit. She also continues to be actively involved within Sport Physiotherapy Canada (SPC) and is now in her second term as Executive Chair for the Ontario Section of SPC; she is also a mentor & a member of the concussion committee helping to develop and execute an annual symposium to deliver up to date information on the subject to members of the sports medicine community from across Canada.

On a more personal note, Heather was born in Cambridge, England and moved to Canada at the age of 3. She recently relocated to Barrie from Toronto as her husband accepted a new job in Orillia and pursues his own professional aspirations. Her immediate family live all across Canada while her extended family remain in the surrounding areas of London, England. Heather's love of sport and her country started at an early age when she was fortunate enough to represent Canada as part of the National Equestrian Team in 2001 at the World Championships. Although she sold her horse in 2007 and no longer rides competitively, she continues to stay active and loves most sports & fitness classes, especially barre, pilates, yoga & spin while she also enjoys outdoor activities such as running and skiing in the winter. Outside of work & fitness, Heather spends time with her Husband, Hunter and beautiful son, Bennet. Heather also loves travel, fashion & is a self-proclaimed foodie!

I have only had a few appointments, and already I can feel the difference. Heather is amazing.

Very quick to get in, and Heather was a great conversationalist, and did a great job explaining the process and what she was doing along with how it would benefit my issue. She also did a great job listening to and understanding the reason I was there.
— Mike
I felt very comfortable and heard while talking to Heather. She was caring and gentle as I am in a lot of pain. My first experience was so good that when my wife came to pick me up we got her an appointment for her assessment!
