What is involved in a Custom Orthotic Assessment?

Our Custom Orthotic Evaluation takes 60 minutes and includes a full lower body biomechanical assessment.

Our Orthotic Trained Physiotherapists will examine your posture, joint function and balance, muscular strength, functional mobility, and gait patterns. We then use plaster of paris (material used with fracture casting) to make a non-weight bearing, 3-dimensional neutral mold cast of your foot. This technique takes longer than foam impression boxes but we believe it more accurately captures the anatomy of your foot leading to the fabrication of a more effective custom orthotic.

Your neutral mold casts are then sent to Paris Orthotics in Vancouver, BC. Paris Orthotics has been in business since 1907, consistently produces excellent quality Orthotics, and is one of the most respected custom orthotics labs in Canada. When your casts arrive in Vancouver, Paris Orthotics uses them to create an actual model of your foot. The specialists at Paris Orthotics build your custom orthotic to the specifications of our Physiotherapists by layering material onto the mold of your anatomically accurate foot model.

We prescribe Custom Orthotics with the goal of maximizing function, while eliminating pain. With this goal in mind, we also make recommendations about Physiotherapy treatment, exercises and self-management techniques which can further enhance your recovery from foot dysfunction.

After the orthotics arrive, we personally evaluate the fit and have you check back in over the first month for satisfaction. We stand by the effectiveness and comfort of our orthotics and any required modifications are included in the original cost.
